Behold La'ie - 150th Celebration

Aloha Everyone!

First off, shout out to La'ie, Hawaii!! Happy 150th Birthday!

 FUN FACTs
- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been here in La'ie since 1865
- The Book of Mormon was translated into Hawaiian by 1855
- The La'ie Hawaii Temple was the first to be built outside of the mainland United States - 1919

Alright, so this was my first week of serving in a Young Single Adult ward and it is so weird...  Really fun too, but you just have to laugh at the awkwardness of being the same age as everyone else sometimes.  But hey, it is the same gospel wherever you go and I am thankful for the opportunity to help them however I can at this crazy time of life.

My new companion is wonderful.  She's got a good sense of humor and is good at being genuine with those we teach.  This is actually her last transfer!  Hopefully we can work hard, have fun, and make it a good one.

Being a Sister Training leader is awesome.  We have the responsibility of going on exchanges with the sisters that we cover [basically we switch companions for a day and help train & uplift them] and planning trainings for the meetings we have [we just teach about an aspect of missionary work].  Today for our weekly Visitors' Center Training ,Meeting, my companion and I got to introduce our theme for the transfer - John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments."  Our Goal this transfer is to...
LOVE GOD and BE EXACTLY OBEDIENT.
Being obedient brings blessings, but without being exactly obedient you miss the greatest miracle - The change within yourself - your personal conversion to God.

I love La'ie and I feel so blessed to serve here in this sacred place.
Love you all!
ALOHA!

Photo 1 - Our tickets for the Behold Laie Celebration.  It was a celebration put on by the youth from this area.  It was similar to the ones that they have for temple dedications, but packed with more history.  It was so much fun to watch too I really loved it.  The Hawaiian [and Polynesian] Culture is amazing.

Photo 2 -  The Parade!  We celebrated 150 years of the church being in La'ie Saturday morning with a parade.  The whole town simultaneously sang Happy Birthday and released thousands of balloons.
